Extreme Idea; but Hunger Solved!
It was a little slow at the diner last night (hint, hint) so I decided to turn on the television. 900 channels of stolen cable and the best I could find was a show called Extreme Couponing. It’s about these crazy people who spend hours upon hours clipping coupons, surfing coupon websites, watching store specials all for the thrill of walking out of the store with stockpiles of grocery items for virtually no money.
Now Clyde here did find it disturbing that one woman had 70+ boxes of cereal in her walk-in clothes closet. Yep, right next to her shoes and blouses were the Cheerios. And why do you need 35 cans of tomato sauce for a family of four all at once? They showed the basement of another that would have made some food pantries envious.
But then I got to thinking (contrary to the fact that some people don’t think Clyde is a smart guy)………………..
Could Extreme Couponing be the end of hunger here in the US?
What if these Extremists were hired by food pantries and soup kitchens to teach people how to shop? Or what if they just did the shopping for the soup kitchens and food pantries? I watched $1,200 worth of groceries (two orders; two different Extreme Crazies) leave the store for about $30!
I think I’m on to something here. But until then it’s folks like you and me that need to keep doing our work to provide the financial assistance to soup kitchens, food banks, and food pantries here in the U.S. Please consider making a donation today. Just click the HOME TAB up above and get started.
